Narrative (with Gap Analysis)
Contract work, Learning Plan ,and Project Update

Congratulations  you successfully completed your 2nd Trimester exhibition!
The following FIVE expectations need to be completed by Monday March 25th.  We will go over this as an advisory and you have a meeting with me to make sure we are on the right track for 2nd trimester.  

1.  Narrative. and Gap Analysis
      -  Look at your feedback forms -
-  Answer the following in a minimum 2 page, double spaced, 12 font reflection ….

A).  What were THREE pieces of feedback you received that were POSITIVE about your work this trimester and the way you presented your exhibition.
****  Attach the feedback forms!

B.)  List all THREE Gaps -
1.  How have you worked on these this year so far?
2.  What are your plans to continue to work on these Gaps third trimester?
        

2.  Contract work
    -  Make a NEAT list of contract work (typed) - List MOST important work FIRST
    - NEED COMPLETE:
        -  80% of your worktracker
       
3.   Learning Plan - update for 3rd trimester
-  You can use the same document you used from 1st/2nd trimester.  Make Copy, save as Trimester2 learning Plan and start added and taking away.  

4.  Project work -  We will be completing in the next month and  a half
You should have …
      a. project proposal - completed and typed
      b.  timeline of work completed so far
      c. uploaded project work so far to blog
      d. timeline for completion
 
5.  Exhibition sign in sheet and Facts.  
Hand in Exhibition sign in sheet with 3 facts you learned from each exhibition.

WHPH Exhibition Expectations - 2nd Trimester - 2012-2013
Please read the expectations thoroughly - make sure you answer and include everything on the expectations.  (A good tip might be to cross off each line as you write your notecards!!)

1.  Hook - 3-5 minutes
*Remember, the goal is to get your panel interested in your xo!!

2.  LTI - 10 minutes

-  Explanation of LTI and what you do there, How does this connect to your passion?, pictures, read/show/explain a minimum of 2 blog entries, LTI book (have or ordered - we will complete research 3rd trimester)

3.  LTI/RWL project - 15 minutes
-  Answer:  what is your project?  How/why did you come up with this idea?, Show/EXPLAIN your project proposal, show/explain all documentation, what have you learned?!, What are you going to teach the panel? are you finished? - if so - show your final product.  If not - show your timeline for completion.  

4.  Content of your choice - 10 minutes
-  QR, 6 Traits, Success for Teens, all other RWL opp’s, Autobio, etc.  
- Explain this topic - what you have done, show and explain work, activity with panel

5. Work tracker - 5 minutes
-  Show it (copies for all in the beginning), explain % - why and how, Explain each section (lti reflection, 6 traits, success, QR update, etc) - best and worst parts, plan for next trimester

6.  Finale - 5 minutes
-  Gaps(3) you are working on this year, how they are going, read section of gateway essay (you might want to mention its draft one) and explain where you are in terms of graduating through Gateway

PERSONAL GATEWAY ESSAY FORMAT

Below are ALL the questions that must be addressed in your Personal Gateway Essay.  Please be sure to take your time with your writing and make sure that this is an essay that you will be proud to show the people who  will be writing your Letter of Recommendation.  It should be a minimum of 3 pages, double spaces, 12 font.


1.         Introduction – Who are you and Why are you ready for Senior Institute? 

2.         What is your Role in Advisory? 
            Are you productive or disruptive? ,Do you participate in advisory, PMU’s and       other school events?  Comment on Rudeness to advisors, other staff members, and          students.  Have you led advisory discussions?

3.         Independent Work Time:  How are you at time management?  How have you        demonstrated leadership?  Are you goofing around?  How has it changed since             9th grade?  How do you use your calendar, to do lists?

4.         How is your communication and Relationship w/ Advisor and Advisory (Work      and Personal Stuff) what role does your advisor play in your education.  Are you        completely utilizing your advisors strengths?

5.         How have you been with internships this year?  What are your strengths at your     LTI?  What are your weaknesses?  What do you have to work on to be a more     productive intern in senior institute?

6.         How is your LTI project work?  What work you are most proud of and why?         What do you have to improve on the most with your project work ?

7.         Gateway Readiness – How are you ready?  Have you improved since last year,      and your 1st trimester exhibition of this year?  What are some of your concerns      about gateway and what you feel will go well.

8.         What Personal Qualities are you focused on in your Gap Analysis and how have    you addressed them so far?

9.         Met opportunities – What school opportunities have you taken advantage of?         What have you gained from those experiences that will help you in the future.

10.       Conclusion – Your last chance to convince the reader that you are prepared for      your gateway and senior institute.

We have been working on Khan Academy quite a bit lately.  It is an excellent way to work independently on multiple subjects - especially math!!!

I will check it every week.  Everyone should make a minimum of ONE achievement a week.   (Those on coverage have 3 minimum a week)
